Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Beam

Have finally went and rooted my Galaxy Beam today. Basically a one button rooting process! Unfortunately the Beam will require a custom kernel for any overclocking to take place. Stock kernel locks the max clock speed to 720mhz. Someone please come up with one asap! Motorola XT720 which shares the same OMAP3440 cpu can be overclocked to 1-1.2ghz easily! At this speed the Beam can easily match up to the Galaxy S.

Let’s get to the details. The Galaxy Samsung Beam can be rooted by using the Universal Androot 1.6.1 (http://blog.23corner.com/). Thanks to shakalaca. The Beam was not intended to be rooted by this app but fortunately it shares the same exploit path to many other Android phones such as the Nexus One, HTC Hero, Xperia X10. The same app however does not work for the Galaxy S. Strange indeed, considering they are basically sister model.

With its convincing 3-1 World Cup win over Denmark on June 24, Japan finished second in Group E and moved on to the final 16 sides vying for global soccer mastery in South Africa.

This marks the second time the Japanese team has advanced to the second round of the finals; the last time was two tournaments ago, at the 2002 World Cup jointly hosted by Japan and South Korea.

Honda was devastating in the video above! Good luck to them in their next game against Paraguay!

Starcraft 2 - Final Fantasy

The video pretty much speaks for itself. I have my doubts if I should buy Starcraft 2 since I am not that much of a RTS fan, however I do enjoy the custom games that similar games (Warcraft 3) has to offer. Epic mod!

I guess football fans out there would’ve already seen the practice match between Japan and England not so far ago. Japan managed to score every goal in the whole game but still manages to lose. Too bad two of those goals was scoring for the other team. They even managed to stop a penalty kick, such bad luck for Japan!

Blue Whale

I am getting a lot of hits to my earlier blue whale article so I thought I may as well build on the interest and post something blue whale related. The above video does a pretty good overview of what blue whales can do. I disagree with the narrator saying it is bigger even than the biggest of dinosaurs. Because there is a dinosaur out there who some scientists thought rivals the size of a blue whale.

Just watched this clip suggested from a friend and this Taiwanese boy’s singing in a American Idol like show in Taiwan has captured a lot of media attention by singing Houston’s “I will always love you”. See for yourself! Quite amazing really… the next Susan Boyle perhaps!

Japan to continue Antarctic whaling

TOKYO (Kyodo) — The Japanese fisheries ministry indicated Wednesday that the country’s whaling for “research purposes” in the Antarctic Ocean will be continued, following a proposal by the International Whaling Commission.

The ministry is also aiming to resume full-fledged whaling along coastal regions of Japan.

Presenting the new IWC proposal on Monday, Cristian Maquieira, chairman of the commission, laid out plans that would enable Japan to continue to hunt whales in Antarctic waters and Japanese coastal waters if it agreed to suspend what it calls its scientific research whaling for 10 years.

How do you feel about whaling? I think human are just selfish creatures as a whole. Are the life of smaller animals not worth as much?

Frozen babies dumped at supermarket

OKAZAKI, Aichi — The bodies of two babies found dumped in a supermarket here on Saturday evening have been identified as those of a boy and a girl who were frozen soon after they were born.

An autopsy indicated that the babies had probably been frozen within two days of dying. The girl appeared to be a mature infant, but the boy had apparently been born prematurely, and it was believed they were not twins. It remained unknown if the babies had the same mother.

What crazy shit is this exactly? At least hide them!

Can’t help but post about this because of the strangeness of this little mutant!

The permanent darkness of the ocean depths is home to a far greater range of animals, from luminous jellyfish to tubeworms that live off oil seeping from the seabed, than previously thought.

A total of 17,650 species of animals, also including shrimps, corals, starfish or crabs, have now been identified in the frigid, sunless waters down to about 5 km deep.

“The diversity of life in the deep sea is much, much greater than we’ve believed,” said Robert Carney of Louisiana State University, who co-leads a study of the ocean depths as part of a wider international Census of Marine Life (COML).

“The abyss is not the dark hole any more,” he told Reuters of surveys with deep-towed cameras, sonar’s and other technology.

Light typically penetrates about 200 metres into the seas - comparable to the height of the 169-metre Washington Monument obelisk - and the zone beyond has long been viewed as a desert with crushing pressures.
